entry for LogMaiden's contest
You have recently taken up a job at your city’s plant nursery known for its wide variety of plants to fit all needs.
Decorative shrubs, small trees for hobbies, flowers for florists, plants used in healing herbs or magic-- and everything in between.
Today is your first day!
Walking in the shop's door, a bell rings and you are greeted by an elderly man half your height while his hat is your own.
He wants you to start right away and leads you to the greenhouse at the back of the shop.
You open the glass door feeling the humidity immediately and you see…what kind of plant is that?!
the plant, or seemingly a human, was sat on the floor, a flower crown of roses and withered flowers sat on her ebony hair. her outfit was seemingly a gardener's overalls, vines of rosebuds entwining with her arm, a small ring of wither roses round her leg, her pants patched with small cloth of red plaid and one of her navy shoes were missing.
her eyes, one red and one grey, looked up and her pale lips slowly formed a smile.
you reach out your hand to get her up.
the girl slowly raised her hand to grab your hand. her hand wraps around yours and she slowly lifts herself up.
as she gets up, you can slowly see her features better. her hand was muddy on her dulled skin. she looked starved but is somehow still living. the thorns on the vines wrapped around her shone brightly in the sun. her face was all grey except for few rosy areas
you looked over to the elderly man, who had already headed off to work. as though he already known her.
you try visit her the next day, but the girl had already disappeared. in her place was a pot of roses and wither roses, entwined together like yin and yang.
