The Wehrmacht, or Nazi Germany's armed forces, had many divisions and specializations of soldiers who fought for Hitler's Reich. The Luftwaffe was the air force of the Wehrmacht in WW2, commanded by Hermann Göring. In the Luftwaffe, soldiers and pilots were trained to both fly aircraft and defend airfields. These Luftwaffe soldiers operated mainly in North Africa and parts of France. An officer like this would usually be seen with Luftwaffe ground staff or in the hangars, where they would direct the aircraft and where they would need to go. They usually commanded troops with a pistol.
