My entry for the official contest Egyptians & Aztecs. I choose to side with the "Aztec team' since I believe it's less mainstream than Antique Egypt, which has already many entries in the contest. It was also an occasion for me to learn a little bit about the aztec mythology, which was completely unknown to me.
After hours and hours of brainstorming (OK, I might be exagerating a bit), I've finaly decided to portray the Aztec deity Xochiquetzal.
In Aztec mythology, Xochiquetzal was a goddess associated with concepts of fertility, beauty, and female sexual power, serving as a protector of young mothers and a patroness of pregnancy, childbirth, and the crafts practiced by women such as weaving and embroidery.
After doing some research, I've found out she is often represented with a Quetzal head helm and bird wings, hence my design.
Here are a 3D render and an artwork. I am sure some of you will recognize where the pose is from (ゝ◡╹)
