Hello PMC!
It's been a while since I was last here - 3 years all told - but I do finally have fresh ideas, and hopefully something to show for all that time away!
Plenty more is planned in addition to this resource pack; please do stick around if you're interested :)
ABOUT RETROCRAFT
If you couldn't tell from the name, Retrocraft is a series of resource packs designed to bring a more primitive, arcade-like look to your Minecraft world. The original goal was to replicate the art style of classic RPG games, but unfortunately I'm not too experienced with pixel art. As such, it hasn't quite turned out as I would have liked so far - but that will change in the future!
As well as making improvements to this pack, I will also be working on other Retrocraft resource packs in the background. Each pack will have a different art style, reflecting the era of gaming they represent.
This one started out as an attempt to make Minecraft look like a NES game, which unfortunately I failed at, lol. I'd describe it as more of a handheld RPG style, kind of like the ones you used to get on the GBA.
WHAT DOES RETROCRAFT ADD?
Nearly every texture in Retrocraft 2k was created in Piskel, using a fixed colour palette limited to 52 colours. All of the texture files have been converted to this palette, but most of them haven't been altered significantly. (yet!)
What Retrocraft 2k does currently offer, though, is:
+ New game font
+ More colourful design in a traditional handheld RPG style
+ New mob skins
Some of the planned additions to this pack in the future are:
+ New menu panorama - the classic one has been installed as a placeholder
+ Sound effects and music
+ New paintings
Of course, this pack is still being worked on - if you happen to notice any issues or possible improvements, please let me know :)
Partial

12 Update Logs
Beta 1.5 : by Tetriform 05/06/2024 2:26:33 pmMay 6th, 2024
BIG update this time - the resource pack now has the following:
- SHADERS(!!!) - fairly basic as it stands, but will definitely be expanded upon in the future. Hardcoded colours have been fixed to better match the retro colour scheme.
- Grass & leaf colour maps updated, including for swamps, rainforests, pine and birch trees
- Brighter water fog to elevate atmosphere underwater
- More variation in biome sky colours
>> Standard temperature variation included - sky is brighter in warm biomes than cold
>> Yellow/brown tint for desert & badland biomes
>> Soft pink for cherry tree grove and mushroom fields
- All coloured blocks & entities now match the colour scheme, this includes:
>> Wool (on sheep)
>> Dog & cat collars
>> Banners
>> Markings on maps - Hotfix:
- Bats now fixed for the new model (finally - I never noticed the model was updated lol)

I was gonna change it with the update but I totally forgot, I'm gonna do that now
I just have to wait till optifine releases, which apparently is taking longer than usual :/
Whichever way, it's been something I've planned for a while, specially since I'm aiming to make more retro packs that just will not fit Minecraft's default colours.
I really, really wish they weren't just hardwired into the game, my life would be so much easier if they weren't :)
I should probably update the images soon, made a few changes since they were taken lol
