I have worked on the terrain,I edited the ores a bit more,makde the ladders with vines,made the woodenplanks a little different.Made the sandsone with vines.
-Changed the torches to different colors(yellow)
-Changed the pumpkin faces to LOL Face :p

Paint.net and paint that orginally comes with windows 7.

You don't wanna use windows paint :/ paint doesn't have the capacity for see through so all the fences and glass will be either white or black. I like GIMP its pretty good and its free :)
