A Playable 3D chess pack (note: this is not my idea, just my version of the idea)

all the pieces are renamed items in item frames, you'll need to either download an invisible item frame texture pack, you can find one here: https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/texture-packs/invisible-item-frame-pack, or you can use this command: /give @p item_frame 1 {EntityTag:{Invisible:1b}} to get an item frame without another texture pack.

to get each piece, simply rename the corresponding colored wool the desired piece, for example if you name white wool "pawn" you will get a white pawn, and if you name black wool "king" you will get a black king.

Feel free to use this in whatever pack you want to include it in!
