OPTIFINE REQUIRED
Included is a shield I modeled because I got bored with the simplistic shields Minecraft allowed me to use. I tried a lot of different texture packs, but nothing seemed to hit home for me. So after a lot of research I decided to delve into the realm of modeling my own custom shield textured after the End Dragon and Shulkers.
As part of the remodel, I also modified the shield to present itself in 1st person the way it looks in 3rd person...rotated and attached to your wrist vastly improving field of view while equipped. I also slightly modified the blocking position in the same manner, to match the default 3rd person view.
And YES, this custom model has working standby and blocking animations, something else I couldn't find in a resource pack with custom models.
Please enjoy what took me weeks to model and figure out how to program via optifine's CIT system.
Craft your shield, spend a level to change the name to include "end shield" (however you want to do it, case insensitive), and feel awesome having your shield equipped for a change!

Hey dude this is pretty awesome, I was just wondering if you can make it so you don't need to name the shield in order to get the texture

I've currently got two (new) models I'm working on...hopefully will be finished to my liking in the next week or so. In order to preclude spamming new DLs on the site, I will start wrapping things into an actual pack of items (planning to all be .nbt based, so as to only modify the game with the items you WANT to see and not make anything a mandatory overwrite). GLAD YOU LIKED IT, can't wait to give you more!

For sure, if you have requests. I would not do a 3D model of someone else's work without their express permission however. Feel free to reach out with original requests though, or if you have your own texture you'd like to see on more than just a 2D plane. I'll see what I can do-
