Hey pretty interesting idea. for texture pack have a question: how much more animations you want to add in future?
and tip for the shine on the iron and other items like this: make a curve line and add a couple more frames
the shine effect of some objects can distract you pretty much and don`t be scared of using almost the same color as that itemits can be pretty soft and nice looking if you know the color theory right. Hope this can help in your future )

I'm planning to animate most minerals and items that feel empty. I am planning to change most items with straight lines animations to be curved. I agree that the shine effected items should have more frames.
