Fresh Animations is a work in progress resource pack that gives an overhaul to entity animations in the default look of Minecraft.
  
The aim is to make the mobs more dynamic and believable. I take inspiration from Minecraft Dungeons and Minecraft cinematic trailers.
    
This will give you an idea of the look I'm going for.




Fresh Animations is a beta pack - it will be continually developed over time.

No, I cannot animate player models. It isn't supported by Optifine.

If you have any issues loading this pack (ie: texture error with mob heads) you need to restart the game.

Fresh Animations is (guesstimated 90%) texture pack compatible!

Load a pack above Fresh Animations in the resource pack list.
If the pack has Custom Entity Models, load it below Fresh Animations.

- This doesn't support moving faces and other minor details.
- Other resource packs with Optifine CEM features will override Fresh Animations CEM, removing animations.
- Some mobs are not fully texture pack compatible (Drowned, Stray)

- Supports Optifine Animated Entities feature.
- Supports Optifine Random Entities feature.


Loadout

Add-ons:
  • Fresh Animations - Add-ons is an extra resource pack for additional features for Fresh Animations.
  • Load this pack above Fresh Animations to work correctly.
  • Read the options.txt file in the add-ons pack folder for directions and info for each add-on.
  • These add-ons are mostly suited for the vanilla look and aren't texture pack compatible.

The Add-on pack currently adds:
  • Animated blinking textures
  • Some extra details to a few mobs
  • Some extra texture variants for a few mobs
  • Read the options.txt file in the Addons pack folder for the full list.

Optifine Settings Required:
This pack will not work without these settings.

Video Settings > Quality > Custom Entity Models: ON
           > Random Entities: ON
           > Emissive Textures: ON (optional)


For Fabric users; this pack works with OptiFabric. It does not work with the Custom Entity Model mod, as it's currently early in development. Usage with Sodium or Iris is NOT possible.

What software do you use?
Blender for concepts, Blockbench for entity model creation, Paint.net for texturing, Notepad++ for animating, Minecraft Java Edition + Optifine.

When will the next update come out?
Whenever I feel happy with the new content. Please don't ask for a release date.

Can you add player animations?
Sadly no. Optifine currently doesn't support player animations. It may be possible with other mods, but I haven't looked into it yet.

Why isn't the [​mob] animated? Can you add it?
Not all the mobs are animated yet. Fresh Animations is a Beta pack, so it is developed over time, so new mobs animations will be added in major updates.
I work and add new animations at my own pace, so please refrain from requesting animations.

Why do some mobs have white eyes and no new animations when I load the resource pack?
This occurs when you haven't installed the Optifine Mod correctly, OR Custom Entity Models is not enabled in Video Settings. The requirements are listed in the description above ^

Why do some mobs have big purple/black parts when I load the resource pack?
This often occurs when the pack is loaded in. I think it's caused by an Optifine bug. To solve this, you need to exit the game and re-launch it.
Q
Is Fresh Animations compatible with [​other resource pack] ?
Probably not completely. Textures for some mobs break with other packs as they are resized in FA. Other packs with CEM (Custom Entity Models) won't work as it would override the models FA. Otherwise, textures for most mobs should be fine.

This pack includes customizable addons for Fresh Animations.

- Alternate Chicken textures (adds extra overlays, comb, tail feathers, alt wattle shape)

- Added Pigs: Muddy Pig, Tusked texture variations
Templates included for some textures to indicate where extra parts are mapped.



Optifne Animations:
- Added blinking animations for Sheep, Cow, Red & Brown Mooshroom, Chicken, Turtle, Dolphin, Fox, Snow Fox, Llama (brown, creamy, grey, white)
- Added blinking animations for Chicken variants, Pig variants

The pig texture is broken, at least on my end. I see a giant eye on the right side of the pig that blinks at the same time the pig does.

Everything else is perfect, I made an account just to type this comment.

i dont know if this would work, but, could you try to make a crossover with the mod "Not Enough Animations"? in the description u say that optifine doesnt support custom player models, however that mod adds some animations to the player, so maybe u could end up doing some animations work with that mod, instead of with optifine (at least the player ones)
if not possible, could you then try to make the player animations and publish them so that a modder tries to add them to the game?

to my knowledge, you can't edit player animations in NEA.

I'm not yet looking into player animations as I'm focusing on the mobs that are supported by Optifine atm.
