Wouldn’t changing the textures of all ores to stone and making trees invisible be about as bad as it gets in terms of prank texture packs?

It would be even worse if you were to go onto a friends computer, rename the version.jar file into version.zip, uncompress it, go to the assets folder, replace the default textures, then rezip and rename it. Instead of making it a resource pack, you could mod the game to make the textures default :P.

Sadly, only works on those that actually USE the compass, which is not a whole lot since the compass doesn't point to something useful like your bed.
