NOTICE: There are two packs in the file. You must unzip the packs first.
Included Packs:
- Fancier Fences: The main pack and a requirement for the other pack.
- FF_Pre_116: This removes the Cracked Nether Bricks not found in earlier versions of the game.
The fences are alright, but they are kinda plain. It's time to upgrade! Each wooden fence and gate now use a mix of 3 log textures to increase the visual appeal. The two new fences and gates have the fortunate side effect of being animated!
In addition, other improvements were made:
- Hidden faces removed: There were many faces hidden in those fences. Believe it or not, the horizontal parts actually go through the posts in the vanilla versions! Will you notice a performance improvement. Probably not, but every little bit helps.
- Random Rotations: Wooden fences will be randomly rotated for a little variation.
- Cracked Nether Fences: Nether Brick fences have a 10% chance to appear cracked.
This pack only changes the models, not textures. Therefore, it is 100% compatible with high res and other packs. The Oak Fence and Gate look great with VanillaTweaks' Smoother Oak Log.

There were sides of the posts that were hidden but still rendered. I didn't remove them, because I thought the rotation would mess it up. However, while working on the walls, I discovered the model lists are not completely random. Therefore, with the correct conditions, I can remove these areas and keep the rotations!
Also, I added Cracked Nether Brick Fences! They have a 10% chance to replace the original versions.
Unfortunately, it appears 1.16 doesn't like this idea. I've double checked everything, but any alternate model is just outright ignored. I haven't tested non-fences yet. However, this little innovation is working perfectly in 1.14.4.
Plus, there was a massive, under-the-hood change. A few months ago, I learned new sub-folders can be created and used in resource packs. It appears there really was no good reason for Mojang to dump everything into just a couple files. Now, this pack is using its own folder system for easier management and possibly better inter-pack compatibility. I plan to put similar systems into my other packs. It would do wonders on my Complete Pack.
Unfortunately, PMC still does not fully understand resource packs, so they still force us to choose texture resolutions for our resource packs, even if our resource packs have no textures.
Is there any chance you'll make a version with all the wood being like the logs/bark sometime? That'd be gorgeous with the new Nether wood types
