This pack gives Minecraft a set of 4 full seasons every day!
The pics show a time lapse over 1 day. Every day, as time progresses, the textures of many grass/flower/plant/leaves/etc. change to reflect the season - from spring with unblossomed flowers and short tallgrass, to summer with the normal look, to autumn with changing colors and decaying foliage, to winter with snow-covered everything and no foliage.
As time passes in the winter and the foliage disappears, keep in mind that the blocks are all still there - they're just using transparent textures at the time. Spruce leaves don't fall off, and do get snow-covered in winter; different blocks begin and end their changes at different times, but I'll say 9am is a big time of the season for many blocks.
As stated, it takes a full 24000-tick day cycle for the seasons to fully cycle. When you load Minecraft and join your world, the animation starts in the early spring (6am) no matter what time of day it is. In order to reset the season cycle to the correct time of day (instead of having winter at noon), just set the time to 0. (You could alternatively set it to another baseline time if you like winter at noon!)
A rough alignment of the time of day with the seasons is as follows.
•Spring: ~4am-10am (~ticks 22000-03999)
•Summer: ~10am-4pm (~ticks 04000-09999)
•Autumn: ~4pm-10pm (~ticks 10000-15999)
•Winter: ~10pm-4am (~ticks 16000-21999)
Enjoy!
*UPDATE*: The download now includes 4 different versions based on your desired season length - from 4 seasons per Minecraft day to 4 seasons per 365 Minecraft days.
P.S.: Your crops won't disappear in winter, but they'll get a little dusting of snow on top!

That being said, it should be good to go now if you don't mind downloading again.
If I make an update to the pack, that's something I'll definitely keep in mind though.
My best guess is that Optifine has an issue with transparent textures on some blocks, or that it has an issue with using a long animation frame time for animated textures. That being said, I'd test again without Optifine.
