I can't be the only one who thinks the sniffer looks like it came right out of a 32x32 HD texture pack, right?

This texture is downscaled, and then fixed because downscaling completely broke it - most of the dimensions are odd numbered. It's far from perfect, but still an improvement over the original in my opinion. If you find any small mistakes that bother you, let me know and I'll gladly fix it.

Have you thought about making a version for Optifine (or whatever other visual mods people use) that tweaks the sniffer's model to work better with this?

I personally don't agree with the pack but I don't get why the comments are bashing this.
It's not like it's going to ruin your Minecraft experience just by existing. Simply ignore it and let the people who want it to download it.

Made a whole new account just to say THANK YOU for this.

I already hate the mobs enough, this last mob vote sucked and I didn't like any of them but the Sniffers are just ugly and when I hatched a couple sniffer eggs and saw them "in-person" I just couldn't help but feeling unsettled by their texture. Too HD and they don't fit in with the vanilla texture pack. They look so much better with the pack on, thank you for doing the work of the gods

don't mind the other commenters bashing on your choice to make something that is reallllly handy for those that want it, this is something that's been bothering me for a while, so thank you so much for making it!
