I originally made this pack as a personal attempt to speed up the game on my Samsung nc10, and because I wanted clear windows and large glass panes on doors. It has got me about a 4/5 frame increase. the main things changed are grass, sand, cobblestone etc but I've also modded the look of the mushrooms, doors/windows and the crafting table/furnace/dispenser.

This pack is mostly finished now, I may or may not change lava and water at a later date. I'm probably going to create an 8x8 version of this in the near future. Some screens..

No texture pack can reduce lag. For every 16x16 tecture, the block renderer will always have to rebder the same amount of pixels, no matter if the pack is all one color or not.

Theoretically I'm now inclined to agree with you, but it did appear to speed it up somewhat on my old PC.. may well have been other factors involved such as amount of stuff on screen, or lack of, at the time.

Yeah the amount of blocks being rendered at one time WILL change lag amounts. i.e. short distance=less blocks rendering=less lag

But it is possible if rendering less colors = less lag.

except its not rendering different colors. It's rendering different pixels.

Well, despite differences in explanations, texture packs like these do reduce lag. At least on my computer it does.
