1. If you take a closer look at previews you'll see the difference pretty easily. Also, Unique Dark is basically a finished resource pack that only requieres more mod support. Sometimes I may change some textures and add version support, when Minecraft gets updates. And Unique Dark Refined is newer resource pack, which has similar look, but different style, which, in my opinion, feels more like an evolution of Unique Dark. Unique Dark Refined is not yet finished and there's a lot of work for me there, because I have to change all of the vanilla textures first and then start adding mod support.

In the latest version (1.20,4) with the latest version of this pack (free version from Modrinth) the creative inventory uses the vanilla look for some reason, is that a bug with the pack? Or could it be caused by one of my mods or something

By “vanilla look” I mean it’s not dark, it’s just the vanilla creative inventory. Other containers along with the survival inventory work fine
