Vanilla Spice is a resource pack that is basically just a texture pack but with a few 3D models and block variants. It aims to keep the overall vanilla vibes of Minecraft by leaving most textures alone, but spices it up by retexturing/remodeling some lackluster blocks.
Compatible with 1.13 to 26.2 (and likely beyond). From 1.13 to around 1.20 Minecraft may give an error, saying this pack is made for a future version of Minecraft, but it will still work.
This resource pack includes:
Variants for:
3D models for:
Remodeled:
Retextured:
Tweaked:
Notes:
Optifine is not necessary; this pack should work with or without shaders.
Again this texture pack should work for Minecraft Java versions 1.13 through 26.2, bypass any warning by clicking yes; worst case scenario is some textures/models are broken and you can just put this texture pack back on the "available" side.
I do have a Bedrock version of Vanilla Spice (not yet updated to v2), but it does not have the 3D rails, ladders, pebbles, nor remodeled fences, due limitations on changing models in Bedrock resource packs.
If you prefer certain vanilla textures over mine, feel free to delete mine from the pack folder, just don't upload my altered pack as your own.
Likewise do not use any of my textures or models in your own resource pack. Of course I don't own things like 3D ladders or grass variants, but just don't copy paste.

This resource pack includes:
Variants for:
- short grass (shorter short grass, sparser short grass, vanilla short grass, clovers, clover flowers, tiny flowers, and 3D pebbles!)
- bookshelves (a variety of textures with different probabilities to make large bookshelves look more organic; slightly fancier style to suit enchantment rooms and library builds)
- mushrooms (small, medium, large, extra large, and cluster variants for both brown and red mushrooms; prettier designs in general; brown mushrooms have flat caps and red mushrooms have fuller caps with white scales)
3D models for:
- ladders! (still very vanilla in texture, just 3D)
- minecart rails! (also vanilla in style, just 3D)
- pebbles (technically a short grass variant; uses stone's texture)
Remodeled:
- fences (versatile three rung model; nether brick fences are modeled after wrought iron fences for victorian/goth builds)
- fence gates (swing open at one hinge rather than being double doors, unique gate doors with custom textures designed after their respective door/trapdoor textures)
Retextured:
- andesite, diorite, granite (more visually interesting and accurate to real life; polished diorite and granite are designed to work well as marble in builds)
- stained glass (much more vibrant colors, sectioned into leaded panes to give a more traditional stained glass look; panes based on redstone lamps; clear and white glass instead use vanilla minecrafts texture but sectioned into four panes for a cottage feel)
- resin blocks (including bricks and clumps, are given a more realistic deep amber color and shading, rather than flat orange)
- iron block, iron door, iron trapdoor (deeper metallic grey color to better represent real iron; block has studs like copper; iron door retextured to suit a larger variety of builds)
- iron bars (simple wrought iron design for fences, but still works as bars)
- copper bars (more resemble old fashioned elevator gates rather than prison bars)
- lanterns (have a wire grate to fit the vibes of the stained glass and iron blocks)
- carpets (subtle knitted/braided texture; added fringe to model; slightly warmer colors)
- bricks (slight variation in color for each brick to make them less uniform)
- mud bricks (slightly more grey with a different brick pattern to allow for versatile role in builds)
- red nether bricks (fishbone brick pattern with brick color variation, also to allow for a more versatile role in builds)
- glowstone (has a warmer glow from within and compliments netherrack better)
- rain! (and rain particles to be whiter and more transparent for softer rain showers)
- leaf litter (leaves are a variety of orange colors rather than just brown)
- campfire smoke (highlight on the underside as if illuminated by the fire)
Tweaked:
- item frames (darker wood frame with light background, using vanilla minecraft textures)
- iron chain (recolored to match the leading in stained glass)
- hanging signs (recolored chains to match my iron chain)
- chiseled bookshelves (wooden sides better match normal bookshelves/oak planks)
- nether bricks (made the top layer also half bricks to allow brick pattern to interlock correctly)

Vanilla Spice v2! (7/9/26) : by galastelloid 07/09/2026 9:07:51 pmJuly 10 @ 1:07 am UTC
I consider this Version 2 of Vanilla Spice!
The overall vibe is the same, but I've changed a few things to make it more cohesive. Some things are unchanged from version one, but here's whats different:
The overall vibe is the same, but I've changed a few things to make it more cohesive. Some things are unchanged from version one, but here's whats different:
- completely remodeled the fences, they no longer have their own individual model, but a shared model (there must have been something wrong with me for me to make a different designed model for each one). This model should be more versatile like vanilla, but prettier
- fence gates were also remodeled to use a base model, but remain opening at one hinge. They were also retextured and some gate doors are transparent now!
- iron bars are no longer diamond shaped grates like my copper bars, but a simple wrought iron fence design that still works as bars
- changed the textures used in item frames so that the frame itself is darker (compost bin) and its background is lighter (sand for regular, and snow for glowing frame), made corresponding item frame item textures
- retextured granite again, not as light, should look better in caves/nature. Diorite was also tweaked
- added two more short grass variants: tiny yellow flowers and tiny white flowers!
- tweaked shading and colors in iron blocks, tweaked leading in the stained glass to match the iron colors, also tweaked the lanterns to match, shifted colors in iron ingot and nugget items
- retextured leaf litter again, should look better
- tweaked chiseled resin brick to look better
