My hope is that once it's officially added, it will become more overt and popular. I tried writing a post about the school on my server in a forum post one time and some people really liked the idea while some very loudly dissed it and obnoxiously put it down. I believe there are people out there who are willing to make fun of this kind of concept and make people feel a bit uncomfortably about geeking out, but if there is a bit more official PMC support a lot of the kids who dig it can feel more empowered. They can say "it's an official tag what's your problem?" It may also give more server owners and others "permission" or "incentive" to use MC for education while they didn't before. Sure you can think of writing it in as a tag but it won't get as much exposure as if people can click it and sort by it. It would also add a positive and beneficial component to players and PMC, since educational content is worthwhile. I would love to see how far some will go to make great projects if this tag was up; I can't guarantee players and owners will flock in droves to that tag but I believe it will encourage some to use Minecraft for education more. It would also allow us server owners who care about integrating minecraft and education connect with others, because right now and for three years I feel like the only one. Even if there are just a few others out there to start, we can encourage each other and the community of recreational educators in Minecraft on PMC can increase. It's such a good platform for it that I think it has a lot of potential to grow. I tried to connect with some groups of teachers and I found that the teachers didn't really want to talk to me. They didn't seem to have the kind of attitude about Minecraft and enthusiasm for putting out educational content in a calm and creative manner like I have. So it would really, really help connect those of us who want to use Minecraft toward education for fun to benchmark, swap ideas, and collaborate. If you add the tag I will be active myself and promote this community, so I hope you consider implementing an Education tag.
