Neat idea, but I can forsee the problem of some unsavory individuals uploading inappropriate GIFs as their 'pets' so it'll be another aspect of the site that we will have to moderate.
We're a community of 4.4 million creative members sharing everything Minecraft since 2010! Even if you don't post your own creations, we always appreciate feedback on ours.

Allow members to make their own pets
Members should be able to upload custom made pets as GIF or APNG (animated png) with a different file for animations. The member who created the pet can choose to keep it private, so it only displays on their profile, or public, so other users can also get the pets. Some pets can be active or disabled. Disabled pets can still be seen publicly but cannot be found or equipped.
