The Issue:

Not long ago the subject of Minecraft's E.U.L.A was brung up. Essentially, it says that you cannot donate for ingame items/items that give you an advantage in the Minecraft game. Because of this, however, many Minecraft players have began to act up in a 'rebelion' of sorts.

What is the EULA:

An eula is an end user license agreement. The definiton of an EULA is: 'a legal contract between a software developer or vendor and the user of the software. It specifies in detail the rights and restrictions that apply to the software.' From the begining the Minecraft EULA has essentially said that you cannot donate for items already in the game. Even Notch himself has tried to point this out in his tweets.

Despite Notch saying that it wasn't changed. People still believe that Mojang have only made this change now to almost force people into using realms. Minecraft Realms is a server like system, however it usually only holds about ten people. At least, that is what my sources tell me.
Notch has also mentioned that it was an employee's own opinion and that no servers had been shut down. He then also mentioend the following below in a tweet.

He also mentioned the following in three seperate tweets on how this could be settled out for server owners that need income to fund their servers.

"New options for people who need server income but want to not break the EULA are being worked on, but they're not posted yet for them reason. So I'll just tell you right now; you can charge for purely cosmetic things. Nothing that effects gameplay. We are going to specifically exclude capes, as we like the special place they have. Add another decorative new item instead of capes."

My Opinion:

While I understand that this affects many server owners deeply, I understand my Mojang has decided to finally enforce this rule. Its in the EULA after all, and we all accept the EULA when we play the game.
I believe that this will shake up servers for a little while, that some may fall- especially the small servers with a little amount of members in their communities.

Your Opinion:

I'll leave this to you now. Please let me know your opinion in the comment section, I would love to hear it. But please, don't be all raged and spamming around comments aimed to hurt Mojang.

I'm on Mojang's side. Server Owners may only blame themself for not following the EULA.

Also, a good way of still making money:
- (For minigame servers) Sell priority access to games (yup, still allowed)
- Sell passes to exclusive servers (you can't connect them with proxy though)
- Once a certain amount of money has been donated, give everyone (everyone! so also those who join later) like 3 hours of xp bonus (just to be clear, everyone needs to get the full 3 hours)
- Sell a nightskip (direct, not with a ticket or something)
- And of course, just sell cosmetic/not-advantage-gaining-over-other-players stuff

Be aware that these ways are completely legal according to ME, I can't assure that they actually are (Because the EULA is still pretty damn vague).

For those who are worried they can't sell plugins anymore, don't worry! This won't get enforced!
How do I know this you may ask, well I sent an e-mail to Mojang and got reply from Marc that selling plugins is still fine, since Mojang just wants to get rid of pay2win.
