Hello! In this blog I will be talking about the new features included in the upcoming 1.8 Update! I will update it as the snapshots are released. I am utilizing Minecraft Wiki, so some places may be very close to their version.
Blocks:
Slime Block
Very similar to bEn_derman's idea, the slime block is now in Minecraft!
Slime blocks are crafted with 9 slimeballs.
When a player or mob lands on the top side, up to 60% of their speed is transferred to upward motion.
Slime blocks prevent all fall damage, so that should prove for interesting high drops!
