So, for the start:
This is serious, not something like "what if..."

So, the thing I was wondering about, is, what can we learn from Minecraft and the community?

Everyone knows that feeling, at least those who played on a server.
Theres a community, and you will be part of it.
Say, theres a ventrilo or Mumble voice chat, you go in, and instead of just plain talking in the chat, suddenly, you are really talking to those you have never heard before.
You have a project, and you are talking in a channel, with 4 or more persons, for hours.
That feeling that you get, when you come home from school or from your job, and the first thing you do, go to the PC and play some Minecraft, talk to the people again, and so on.

On some servers, there are even professions, like miner, woodcutter and such.
One person or more people are responsible for the food and supplies, the others build, craft and such.
Basically, a very simple community is build. The one who gave me that, gets that back.
Trust and such are very basic and same way important things that you need to build up that community.
For example, a storage in the middle of the village, where the people can take supplies from all different kind, but, not to much, so theres stuff for the others.

If you think about all that, why is it then so difficult in the real life to do that?
Thats simple, fun and motivation.
No one likes to do task, not even if they come from a leader.
But in Minecraft, you have a goal, a clearly defined one. And everyone helps to get there.
Motivation and fun are the most important things in a game.
All sorts of games need to have those elements somehow.
A shooter, for example, you need to finish the mission to get to the next.
Then, you also unlock several achievements to get better weapons, level up, etc.

There are rarely games that dont have those elements. And if, they are quite unpopular.

But, what do I mean with all that stuff I have just been saying?

If you think about it, how would it be to have a little experiment in real life.
Say, you have a forest, and you get a group of 20 people.
There must be one leader, or, optional, more leaders or group leaders.
They have to give their group a profession, something simple, but also something that keeps the community up.
Like food supplies. Is there a lake nearby?
How can we get fish?
Do we need to make a fishing rod?
How do we get a fishing rod?

Those are very simple tasks, but together, as a community, you can do that.
Lets say, the Mission is to build up a village, with small houses, furniture, and such stuff.
What do the people need for that? Wood, of course.
Stone will be hard to get, but if you give the people a tutorial on how to create tools, it could be even possible to do that.

So, in the end, what would the people learn?
I mean, there are still people who live like that, in a simple community.
But, with the skills, with the experience, it would be even possible for us to do such thing.

I hope you have been reading the whole article, if you have any questions, contact me :)
