A distant neigh pierced the calming silence and a cloud of phantom-like dust erupted from the seemingly elusive horizon in ghostly plumes, disrupting the serenity of the evening. The rhythmic clattering of hooves echoed dully, but increased in volume as the equestrian sandstorm neared the town at an incredible speed. Once the dirt cloud began to dissipate, its absence revealed a band of six horses swiftly travelling toward Kingsgrove; the mount and rider in front appeared to be fleeing from the remaining five that barreled after them in a desperate manner.

Despite the odds, the frontrunner seemed as though he was faring well in the race, but his golden eyes failed to notice the impending cavern he and his pursuers were furiously approaching that surrounded the village much like a moat encircled a castle. The landform had not escaped the leading horseo s observant gazeo the fragile canyon edge was closing in.

With another shrill whinny, the escapeeo s horse dug her hooves into the earth, halting her movement almost instantly, and the instinctive braking action forced her hind legs into the air. The buckskin had successfully avoided a catastrophic end, but her rider had not been granted such luck. He was propelled over his horseo s massive shoulders and his unfortunate trajectory flung his body beyond the jagged cavern brink. Because his deliberate grip on the reins had strengthened due to the tense situation, the yellow-eyed man managed to prevent his descent to the depths of the slender canyon below, dangling by the slim leash. He stole a glance up at his frightened mount.

The trembling horse strained to maintain her balance and due to the added weight, could not raise her head above the perilous ridge. Her rider immediately became well aware of her plight; upon realizing what he must do in order to preserve her life, he gave her a soothing smile then released his grasp on the leather reins. The stout buckskin quickly elevated her head to its proper height and stared down at the deep, craggy chasm with a pair of noticeably melancholy eyes as the remaining quintet of horses gingerly crept toward the ravineo s edge.

T^T Thank you so much! :P I'd love to be, but I feel like it takes someone with less... Easily distracted tendencies to become a legitimate author... x'D I've never wrote an ending to any of my stories! :o Aaaaanyways... Thanks again! It means a lot! :'D
