one of my favourite show atm is BBC Ghosts. a comedy series abt a married couple called Alison and Mike, who have inherited this massive mansion dating from the 1400s(?). after an....... incident...... Alison suddenly is able to see ghosts, and there’s quite a few of them living in her house. it follows the shenanigans Alison, Mike and the ghosts get up to inside Button House and is super funny. i should also mention the cast consists of the original Horrible Histories gang, and is written by them :)
I decided to doodle the ghosts today, and why not show them off here 🤷
robin is a caveman! he’s the oldest ghost by terms of how long they’ve been dead for, and he’s my personal favourite character! he’s really entertaining and just watching him try to understand all this 21st century stuff and modern inventions is funny. he’s one of the few ghosts we don’t know the cause of death for yet, but the fans speculate he perhaps got struck by lightning? because (in death) he has the ability to make lights flicker on and off. he likes scaring Alison, and usually just wanders about looking for stuff that’ll entertain him. he also likes playing chess with Julian, and trying to figure out crosswords in newspapers. he’s played by Laurence Rickard :)
Humphrey unfortunately has to deal with being a severed head due to the fact the ghosts all appear how they did when they died, and it just so happens that Humphrey got decapitated. he was a Tudor nobleman, and (ignoring the Plague Ghosts) is the second oldest ghost. he spends most of his time laying about in random places in Button House yelling directions at the rest of his body on where to go to find him. he gets less screen time than the other ghosts, but just over a week ago the first episode of series 3 aired, and it was a Humphrey-based plot! showing how he died. his head is played by Laurence Rickard and his body is played by Yani Xander.
Mary was a Stuart-era peasant woman who was burned at the stake. whenever someone from the living world walks through her ghost, the alive person will suddenly smell burning from seemingly nowhere. she speaks very broken English, and tends to pluralise words that don’t need to be, or pluralised plural words, like ‘sleeves’ will become ‘sleeveses’. she’s played by Katy Wix :)
Kitty was a young Georgian aristocrat. Kitty’s backstory is quite mysterious, we don’t know what year she died, or how she died, or really that much in general about her from when she was alive. she’s very playful, and seems to be somewhat infatuated with Alison. she’s very friendly to almost everyone, and is very excitable, so much to the point she sometimes annoys others such as Fanny, but she always means well :) Kitty is played by Lolly Adefope
Thomas was a Regency-era romantic poet who died in a duel with Lord Byron in 1824. he’s very over-dramatic about everything, and at almost any given situation he’ll usually try to make a poem out of it. he’s very deeply in love with Alison, despite being aware that 1) she’s married, and 2) that he himself has been dead for almost 200 years. Alison frankly doesn’t care, and tries her best to ignore him. Alison isn’t exactly that special to him either, considering he falls in love with almost any woman he sets his eyes upon. Thomas is probably my second favourite, his personality is absolutely hilarious to watch. Thomas is played by Mathew Baynton :)
Fanny was an Edwardian noblewoman who was pushed out of a window by her husband. she’s very stuck-up about everything, and is always telling Alison how to do certain things ‘correctly’. it’s quite rare to come across a scene where she isn’t angry at someone. because of her extreme ‘poshness’ she finds most of the other ghosts quite repulsive due to their contrasting personalities. she’s a very interesting character, and if there is a series 4 I would love to see her explored further. Fanny is played by Martha Howe-Douglas :)
The Captain was a WW2 general of some sort. that sounds vague, and that’s because that’s virtually all we know about his past. he’s probably the most mysterious character considering we don’t even know his name!! let alone how he died or when he died. The Captain likes to make it very clear that he participated in WW2 combat, because it’s practically all he talks about. he’s also pretty stuck-up, and somewhat humourless. he likes taking a leadership role, and giving commands to the other ghosts, even if they’re not too keen on it. it’s also pretty clear to almost everyone else that he’s probably gay, he himself? is pretty confused about it all. The Captain is portrayed by Ben Willbond :)
Pat was a scout leader who died in 1984 after an incident involving archery when he was instructing :( Pat is probably the most ‘normal’ ghost there, being an overall very friendly and helpful person. he usually sorts out schedules for ‘meetings’ and activities for the other ghosts, probably so they don’t get bored. he always seems interested in testing new things (if he can) and likes being involved with whatever Alison and Mike are up to, without being annoying about it. Pat is played by Jim Howick :)
Julian was a Tory MP who died to unknown causes, but we know it was in 1993, and in the middle of a not-very-appropriate party he was a part of. because of the time and place he died in, he’s now eternally stuck wearing no trousers. because of how recently he died, it’s common for him to have to explain some modern things to the other ghosts. for some reason, Julian (if he tries hard enough) is able to touch and push things in the real world with his finger, like a cup or vase, or a keyboard key. julian is pretty arrogant and dirty-minded, but he manages to stay respectful of the others. Julian is portrayed by Simon Farnaby :)

but also, i remember watching like, clips of the horrible history actors, in ofc horrible histories and other shows etc, and i wondered which shows these characters were from,

You art style looks incredibly fitting to the cast, almost like an illustration from Roald Dahl I love it! x
Got to say, I do hope they explore Kitty's backstory since she is quite the mystery- though I do have my own speculation that her death lies similarly to Thomas, and that being based around love or perhaps even some type of admiration. She has this huge fascination on romance, weddings, marriage and relationships whilst, however, being quite naive to it all? x
I do wonder if her death will almost be similar to Tim Burton's the Corpse Bride, with perhaps her having fallen head over heels in love with someone and it resulting in her death- be it murdered or accidental x
I really wanna find out how The Captain and Robin died too, everyone seems to be clueless with Cap and Robin could really be anything ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
And for Captain I honestly am not sure? It's not like there is any visible damage like a bullet wound, like how Pat has an arrow directly present from the accident. Perhaps Captain possibly died from overdose (if he went by his own way) r even a type of poison gas from a bomb that swiftly killed him x
Robin however, (slight spoiler if you haven't seen) I think he was definitely killed by a bear from an unlucky encounter- but I mainly think that from one of the episodes where he was jokingly re-counting the 'hilarious'' event of jumping a bear XD x
