He fired his Glock 17 at the creature bounding behind His car. The casing bounced off of His car and flew away. He slammed his foot down on the gas pedal. But His Dodge Charger was already going top speed. The thing grabbed onto the rear door, wrenching it open. The metal groaned under the stress, and the door crumpled away. He didn't care. He was glad to have His life still. His road trip had gone to hell since They had come from the sky. He fired several more shots at its hand, and it lost its grip and slammed into the blacktop behind. Its blood splattered in a gory shower. He sighed in relief and wiped the sweat from His brow. He continued toward Denver. Another thing leapt out in front of His car. Slamming on the brakes, He plowed into it. Red liquid poured over the windshield, and its guts spilled out. He spun out of control. The dead creature slid off of His car, and the car plowed into a concrete barricade. He flew through the windshield, smashing against the highway. His car flipped into the air and landed on His legs, pinning Him down. He screamed in pain. His gun lay inches out of His reach. He grabbed for it, to no avail. He continued screaming. Thumping footsteps marked the arrival of another thing. The reptilian beast leaned over Him, smelling the strong scent of His blood. He would never forget that haunting scream it let out before it tore into Him. Agonizing pain, and then nothing. The creature continued its attack, and His body convulsed in nervous spasms. In minutes, there was nothing but blood and bones.
