If you lag or get 10-20 FPS maximum, fallow these steps and you could amp it up a lot. LINKS AT THE END!
1- OPTIFINE! Get optifine if you do not already have it, this will grant the largest fps increase, in most cases Doubling your fps!
2- Get a simple texture pack! If you do not know where to look, you can pick one up at the end of the blog.
3- Open file explorer and click "computer" so you can see all your drives. Right click in an open area and then click "Properties". Then "Advanced system settings". In the Performance box, click settings and uncheck EVERYTHING. This will simplify your desktop and windows, but increase functionality.
4- Do the following in the minecraft options menu:
Turn off smooth lighting
Set performance to "Max fps"
Turn down the render distance
Turn off "View Bobbing"
Turn off "Clouds"
Change particles to "Minimal"
Turn off all music and sounds
5- Close out all other windows that are running in the background
6- Close all other windows that are open except minecraft
If you followed all these steps, your FPS should have at least doubled. If you already get high fps, then i hope you enjoy the extra fps boost :P
Mind that there are different types of optifine and each one may have a different level of efficacy depending on your computer. Experiment with each type to see which works better for you.

If this helped you feel free to diamond, comment and favorite! If you have any suggestions to reduce lag that i have not mentioned here, please comment them!
