Crops and Space
Showing and telling on how to deal make your crops fit for farming in survival mode.

Written by Zahkrosis

Crops when farming tend to be one line of water followed by wheat or whatever they need.

What if I told you that you've been making crops wrong the whole time?

When making a farm, you should make a 9x9 square, make a hole and put water in the hole.
That'll cover all the dirt in the field.
Then you can fill it out with wheat, carrots and etc.

But if you want to make it fit for melons or pumpkins, the best thing I know for one row without wasting space is a 9x20 field, with two holes of water and some glowstone.

Everyone should know the basic things you need when farming, which is the following:

  • A hoe
  • Dirt
  • Seeds (any kind)
  • A place to have your farm
  • A light source
  • Water

I don't really want to get in and cover on how to plant trees, since that should be pretty obvious.
But what I usually do is plant trees with a four block space in between.

Farming can safe your life in survival. Especially in Hardcore mode.

So remember; farming is good for you.

Hunger

Some foods you get from farming doesn't quite fill your hunger up for the long run.
As an example. Bread will keep your hunger up longer than melons will.
Meats are ofcourse more fulfilling that bread and fruit, but this article is about farming.

Sorry ;)

Also potatoes when farmed, can be normal or poisonous.
The chance of getting normal potatoes which you can eat and cook, is much greater than the chance of getting the poisonous, which you can not eat or cook.
Well... You can eat them, I just wouldn't recommend it.
