Chapter I

Sea water soaked my already freezing clothes. o Where was I?o o Who am I?o These, and other questions were spinning around in my head. I decided that I should start to explore this new place where I was. If I didno t find food or water, I would surly die. And of course, since I had a somewhat high esteem, I did not want to die.

As I tried to stand up from the water, I realized that I could barely move. My legs felt like jelly, and I was forced to crawl up the sandy beach. My legs felt more steady once I hit dry land. I stood up and began my journey.

I noticed that the world around me was beginning to change. I was no longer surrounded by trees, but as I crossed a hill, a blank canvas of grass sprawled before my eyes. This seemingly unending plain was peppered by little holes I could only guess to be caves. I noticed a fairly large heard of cattle directly to my left, so I retreated into the woods to gather some wood.

The woods put me on edge for some reason. It always felt a little darker than in the plain, however, I had to put my fears aside. Right now survival was all that mattered. I found out that if I kept on hitting a tree, the base would break off, however, the rest of the tree would remain floating. o Strange..o I said to myself. I also realized that when I hit something, it would shrink down into a tiny cube and go straight into my pocket! This made collecting things a whole lot more easy.

Once I had collected enough wood, I retreated back to my grassy plain. I reached into my pocket to get the small cubes of wood out, however, instead of the splintery, rough feeling I was expecting, I felt something smooth. I pulled out a little metal rod that had the word o INVENTORYo inscribed in it. The only imperfection in the metal was a little button at one of the ends. So, as you probably guessed, I pressed the button. Just then the rod separated in half, long-ways, and a very thin flim of light filled the gap between them. This gap had a completely white background, with thirty-six squares divided into four rows. The bottom row was separated by a small bar. There was a vertical calumn of four squares in the top left corner, with a picture of me right beside it. Then there was a 2x2 cube in the top right corner.

I had no idea what I was doing, so I placed one of my logs in the 2x2 cube. Then in the square right next to the cube, a new block appeared! It looked just like wood planks. It hat a x4 on it, so I figured that one of my logs made four wooden planks. I then tried to keep experimenting. I figured out how to make sticks, then eventually a crafting table. I had also decided that it was impossible to make a weapon in this small of a space, so I dragged the crafting table to one of the squares in the bottom row. Nothing happened so I just closed my inventory, and thought about what I should try next.

Then I noticed a small metal watch-like device strapped to my wrist. It had the picture of the crafting table on it. At the bottom of the watch there was a red button. I pressed the red button, and it made a buzzing sound. o Thato s odd, is it broken?...whatever it iso ¦o , I thought to myself. So I began to try different ways of pressing the button. I noticed there was a small dial on the side, and when I twisted it, it moved to other empty cubes. I figured this had to have been a mirror of the bottom row, but I did not know for sure. Then, I finally figured out how to use this new gadget. I pointed at the ground, pressed the red button, and the crafting table appeared. However, when I looked back at the watch, the picture of the crafting table was gone. o Interestingo , I murmured to myself.
The crafting table was a solid cube with a screen on top, when I pushed the button, it turned on, and showed me my inventory, except where the picture of me and the squares next to me were gone. The space was filled with a huge crafting area. So, I arranged both sticks and wooden planks into a sword like structure, and in the square right next to the crafting area, a wooden sword appeared. I then put the wooden sword in one of the bottom squares, which I now called o slotso , and turned of the crafting table. I then noticed that it was beginning to get dark, and I had failed to make a shelter, or find food. For some reason, I was never thirsty, only hungry. I decided I should keep moving, just to be safe, so I began to hit my crafting table, which eventually shrunk into a cube and went back into my inventory, and was on my way. Looks like I was going to spend my first night in this strange world outside.
