Ok, so a lot of people who play Minecraft really want to gain a lot of power on someone's server. Here is a list of does and don'ts when trying to get OP on a server!
Do
- Play on the server for at least a week before asking.
- Comment about how fun the server is occasionally.
- Say "thanks" to the server owner every once in a while.
- Try your best to spell things right, and use proper grammar.
- Research the plugins the server is using, and learn how to use them yourself.
- Offer to help if the Owner looks like they need it.
- Be very polite
Do Not
- Join the server, and immedietly ask for OP.
- Ask for rank
- Interrupt the Server Owner when they are talking to someone else
- Greif (obvious)
- Ask for any kind of position
- Repeat your questions over and over again (the Owner probably noticed it, they're just busy)
So, lets say that you've played on the server for a while, and you feel it necessary to ask for OP. Try to use these phrases:
"Hey [Name], I was wondering if you needed any new staff members."
or
"Hey [Name], I've been playing on this server for a while, and I would like to help even more by becoming a staff member."
Remember, if they don't give you staff/op, don't be too pushy, just drop it and ask again several days later.
Never Never Never Say:
"Hey [Name], I've been playing on this server, so I deserve to be staff member.
or
"Hey [Name], can I please have staff/op?
or if you really don't understand what manners are
"Hey [Name], you're doing this all wrong, if you give me op, I'll show you how to do it right.
Remember, the most fail-proof ways to get staff/op is to use your manners and common sense. Becoming OP on a server is not a right, it's a privilege.
Well, know that you have this crash course of becoming OP down, why not give it a try?
Good luck!
