Give it 100%
Many say they do, but how many actually do it? How often is the 100% completed tag thrown on a piece of work barely half finished. This work was thrown together in a rush or without much consideration. It is an underdeveloped and half finished. This kind of work is found way too often. It shows up everywhere from blogs to servers. It is the trash of PMC, the smelly bad stereotype of the website.
Now to clarify a few things, you may wrongly assume I mean works of low quality, the truth is just the opposite. Works of low quality are a good thing, epically to show separation from the less skilled and the skilled. A low quality work can still show effort, and as long as the low quality of work begins to improve over time then it is apparent they work hard to make skins. It also keeps diversity high in PMC and helps promote hard work and newcomer's growth into PMC. However, there is still something to be said about those who do terrible work solely for exp, a topic I will hit a little later in this blog. Clarification #2: People of high status can still have skins with low to no effort. These great skin makers (Doesn't have to be skins can be anything blogs, servers, etc.) post things that do now follow a quality standard; they don't match up to their own works.
The Beginner's Trap:
When you make your first post chances are you aren't going to do very well. You want to get popular like the famous PMCers. However, that first skin isn't doing so hot, but hey it got you 5xp right, so if I do the math and I make twenty skins I will have 100XP. This 5xp per post is just a beginner's trap it makes them think they way to get popular is through large numbers of submissions; when in fact the opposite is the case. These poor newbs don't realize that hard work and effort are they key to success on here. That overtime and with enough talent you will become great on here.
The Double Standard:
Seemingly the best can never screw up. These PMC greats are impeccable with no faults in sight. This is not true all the time these greats post low quality work or work that is inherently repitive. I don't mean to rag on the girl skinners, but they are the worst about this. Their skins are often strikingly similar with each passing skin, and show now advancement in technique or any experimenting. I'm not saying they all do this but there are a lot of cases of this. Any who I just want to point out that even the greats can make bad works.
What Can We Do?
This is simple just support the works of other's who deserve it. Don't allow low effort posts to prosper. However we can't just expect others to keep high effort standards, we must also do it for our own work as well. You must work hard when making each skin or blog. You must realize something every time you post a skin that skin doesn't just reflect you, but instead reflects PMC as a whole. We need to think of PMC more as one big team then an ego contest of who's the most popular. We need to be team players and the best way to do that is just make the best work you can.
Thanks for reading my blog, or at least skimming through it XD. Please diamond if you like it favorite it if it's one of your favorites, or comment below if you disagree on any of the topics mentioned in the post.
