Ever wanted to make a texture pack but dono t understand how to? You came to the right place. There are only two applications that you need. The first is a photo editing program (Photoshop, Paint, Gimp, etc.) I prefer Photoshop because it is easy to use. The second is a jar opening program. I know two for PC (Winrar, 7-zip) but only one for Mac (Archive Utility). PC: Go to start then type %appdata% and click roaming. This should bring up windows explorer. Then scroll down to application support. Open it then open .minecraft and open bin. You might want to save this location. Then locate minecraft (jar) and right-click and select open with (winrar or 7-zip). It should make a minecraft folder named minecraft. Mac: Open a finder window then click on the icon that looks like a house. Find library, then application support, then minecraft, then bin. Locate minecraft.jar and open it with archive utility. It should make a copy named minecraft.jar.zip. Double click it and it should make a folder named minecraft.
Now depending on whatever type of computer you are using, open the minecraft folder. You should see a bunch of files. Find the following folders and pngs and copy them to a new folder: environment, terrain, terrain.png, GUI, misc, art, particles, title, pack.png, mob, items, armor, and achievement. Name the new folder TemplateTP. Now, whenever you want to make a texture pack, simply copy TemplateTP and rename it the name of your texture pack. When making a pack, open it and it should have all the folders. Edit the textures freely.
There are only two catches: if you are a Photoshop user and wish to copy and paste pictures onto minecraft pngs that are in your TemplateTP folder, after you have copied and pasted, press control-E (PC) or command-E (Mac), to ensure that your png is one layer and one layer only, or it will not work. The second catch is that on some mob pictures, you will not be able to edit with color. To fix this, in Photoshop, go to adjustments, then mode, then click RBG or something like that.
Now when you are done with your pack or want to test it out, highlight all of the files in your texture pack folder and (on PC right-click and go to send to then click compressed zip folder) or (on Mac right-click and click compress). All of the files should become one zip folder. Drag this into the folder Texture Packs located in your .minecraft or minecraft folder. Run Minecraft then select Texture Packs and click your pack. It should take a second or two to load, but voila your pack is ready to go!
I hoped this tutorial helped. Please diamond and comment if you are confused or need help.
