I did a thing

I’m using Firestar for the tutorial. Before starting, make sure you have downloaded a reference image onto your computer. I used this image below.

Firestar

1- Open PMCSkin3D. On the top left corner, click file > New Skin.

2- For the model, select Cat. Turn Default Texture off and HD Skin off. Use any base color.

3- On the top left corner, go to file > Open reference image. Upload your reference image from your files that you downloaded.

4- After you have the image, Use the - and + Buttons to make the image bigger or smaller (Zoom in and out), press and hold the image name (In this case, Firestar.png) to move the image. Resize and move the image to your liking.

5- Select the base color of your cat by clicking it on the image. The base color should take up most of the cat, but it should never be the patterns (Stripes, spots, ect.). Then after you have the base color, click 2D in the top right corner.

6- Make sure you are on paint bucket tool and draw mode. Fill your base color on the entire cat. After you’re done, go back to 3D.

7- Add the eyes and skin (Paw pads & nose) with corresponding colors from the reference image in the location shown in images below.\

8- Time to do the flat colors! You can move back and forth through 3D and TD for this step. Only do one color at a time! I did the cream/underbelly first, then the darker orange, then the reddish-orange/darkest orange last!

9- Shading! Get a relatively dark and low-saturated color and turn the opacity down to 5%-30%. Make sure Mirror> Through is on too, but ONLY for the sides of the face, body, tail, ect.

You may change the opacity according to your needs!

10- Lighting! Get a bright yellow (Close to white) and turn the opacity down to about the same level as the shading. Same rules as the shading too! Add lighting in the areas that are blank and don’t have much shading.

After that, we’re finished! I gave Firestar a pose, but it’s only for fun 😺

The only thing that’s left is to publish. Go ahead and click the blue button on the bottom right corner, “Publish to PMC!” Then give your cat a name (It can be an actual name, like Firestar, for this cat, or it can be something without a name, like Tabby Cat or Orange cat.), a category, and add a description of the cat. Include the reference image in there too!

Make sure to credit who the reference image came from or who’s character this is. You may add tags too if you want. Look over everything and make sure it is how you want it, then click Publish live!

That’s it! Go off into PMC and make some cats now! 😸
