Do you wanna know how to make COLORED or DIFFERENT FONT signs in Minecraft? Well follow the simple steps below to get a colored sign.

1. Place a sign on the ground

2.The following will show you how to type "§" (Or you could just copy-paste it):

IOS:
1. In your keyboard, tap "123" or "symbol" to go to the numbers and symbols page.
2. Tap and hold the "&" symbol and you will get "§".

ANDROID:
Hold the S key, and "§" will pop up.

PC & MAC:
NOTE: This only works with books! If you want it to work with signs, download this mod.

3. After you typed "§", tap a number or letter in the table below. Then, type a few letters and you will discover that they have changed color or font!

NOTE: The "§" followed by a number will NOT show on the sign when you exit.

Color/font codes:
1 = blue
2 = green
3 = dark aqua
4 = dark red
5 = purple
6 = gold (orange)
7 = Grey
f = white
8 = dark grey
9 = Indigo(GLOW IN THE DARK)
0,r = black
e = yellow
a = lime green
d = pink
c = red
b = aqua
m = Strikethrough
n = underline
l(L lowercase) = bold
k = OBFUSCATED(Try it out!)
o = italic

Hope this helped!

I loved this so much. I have been wondering for so long how to do it. granted, I am on PE edition. but still, BTW, in PE, you don't need any mods. but I know nothing about PC. Thanks!!
Glad I could help :D

This is nice and all, but signs are easy, just use commands. Its simple, here, have this. Made this when I was learning NBT tags. (1.13 ONLY):

1 LINE:
/give @p sign{BlockEntityTag:{Text1:"{\"text\":\"Text\",\"color\":\"green\"}",display:{Name:"{\"text\":\"Custom Sign\"}"}}} 1

2 LINES:

/give @p sign{BlockEntityTag:{Text1:"{\"text\":\"Text\",\"color\":\"green\"}",Text2:"{\"text\":\"Text 2\",\"color\":\"green\"}"},display:{Name:"{\"text\":\"Custom Sign\"}"}} 1

3 LINES:

/give @p sign{BlockEntityTag:{Text1:"{\"text\":\"Text\",\"color\":\"green\"}",Text2:"{\"text\":\"Text 2\",\"color\":\"green\"}", Text3:"{\"text\":\"Text 3\",\"color\":\"green\"}"}, display:{Name:"{\"text\":\"Custom Sign\"}"}} 1

4 LINES:

/give @p sign{BlockEntityTag:{Text1:"{\"text\":\"Text\",\"color\":\"green\"}",Text2:"{\"text\":\"Text 2\",\"color\":\"green\"}", Text3:"{\"text\":\"Text 3\",\"color\":\"green\"}", Text4:"{\"text\":\"Text 4\",\"color\":\"green\"}"}, display:{Name:"{\"text\":\"Custom Sign\"}"}} 1

----------------------------------------------------------------

I made this in 1.12.2 originally, edited it for 1.13.
Here is 1.12:

1 LINE:
/give @p sign 1 0 {BlockEntityTag:{Text1:"{\"text\":\"Text\",\"color\":\"green\"}"},display:{Name:"Custom Sign"}}

2 LINES:

/give @p sign 1 0 {BlockEntityTag:{Text1:"{\"text\":\"Text\",\"color\":\"green\"}",Text2:"{\"text\":\"Text 2\",\"color\":\"green\"}"},display:{Name:"Custom Sign"}}

3 LINES:

/give @p sign 1 0 {BlockEntityTag:{Text1:"{\"text\":\"Text\",\"color\":\"green"}",Text2:"{\"text\":\"Text 2\",\"color\":\"green\"}", Text3:"{\"text\":\"Text 3\",\"color\":\"green\"}"}, display:{Name:"Custom Sign"}}

4 LINES:

/give @p sign 1 0 {BlockEntityTag:{Text1:"{\"text\":\"Text\",\"color\":\"green\"}",Text2:"{\"text\":\"Text 2\",\"color\":\"green\"}", Text3:"{\"text\":\"Text 3\",\"color\":\"green\"}", Text4:"{\"text\":\"Text 4\",\"color\":\"green\"}"}, display:{Name:"Custom Sign"}}

Did I use a generator? No, I was tempted though. As I said, I made this while learning NBT tags.

edit the
display:{Name:"Custom Sign"}
to
display:{Name:"{\"text\":\"Custom Sign\"}"}

you can also make a lore (the smaller text underneath the name):
display:{Lore:["A sign made by act777u"],Name:"{\"text\":\"Custom Sign\"}"}

the reason for all the \" is to escape the quotes, if you do a bit of programming, you will understand.
I find it stupid and way over-complicated, especially for new to NBT people, but there you go.

Thanks it works good
btw what does § mean
but i see ppl do it on pc edition without mods
Then they are on a server. PC must have a mod in singleplayer to use it.
oh
Also, mad you make the title like that, wow WTF man??
A bit clickbaity? I know, I've tried to reduce that as much as possible :P
I was using the Windows 10 Edition and I didn't know all the colors/fonts you could use. So this helped alot! thank you so much
Your welcome!
"This only works with books! If you want it to work with signs, download this mod."
Clickbait much?
You dont need a mod for this in Pocket edition..
Actually it does work on signs without the mod...
Sorry, will change title. Was just too lazy ;)

What about Linux?
For colored signs, download the mod mentioned in the article. For books, it should work exactly the same as mentioned. Just copy paste "§"

HI what mod can I use to type & instead of §??????????
Use a mod like ColorUtility, or Color Code GUI. Those mods allow you to use a GUI to type colored text instead of a symbol. (Google them please)

I don't know id I'm just reading too fast and missing something or if you just left something out but there doesn't seem to be any way to type that symbol on pc or mac in this tutorial. and maybe if you could link me to the mod that lets me use & instead of the symbol, that'd be nice. Thank you!
You can copy paste...

Or of you want more options try this mod, if it works :P

i cant
Please explain in detail.
This is a great tutorial for those who don't know about this feature. I knew you could use that symbol to change colors in the titles and descriptions of resource packs, but I never knew this tricked worked with signs. Thank you! :)
Im glad that this helped!

In android, just long-press the letter S in the keyboard and you will actually find the § symbol
Thanks for the tip!

Nice but if i'm not mistaken you cant find the § symbol in MCPE Android?
In settings, add a chinese character DRAWING keyboard. Then in MCPE draw the symbol with the chinese character drawing keyboard.
