I've seen many skins on PMC that were good, but nobody paid attention to them because they weren't shaded. This is why I made this blog.
This is the simplest way I know of to shade skins. If you know a better way, please let me know.
This is the simplest way I know of to shade skins. If you know a better way, please let me know.
- Download Paint.NET, a free photo editing/creating software.
- Make or find a shading template. I suggest the latter. Shading templates are just plain white skins, but shaded.
- Copy it, and paste it into a new layer on your skin. Do this by going to 'Edit' and 'Paste into new layer.'
- Click 'Layers,' then 'Layer Properties.'
- Set 'Blending Mode' in the drop-down menu to 'Multiply.' If the skin is too dark, turn down the opacity until you think it looks good.
- If your skin has a hat, copy-paste the head of the shading template over it, then delete the invisible parts.
- Press 'Image,' then 'Flatten.' This will combine the bottom and top layer, making it into one.
- You're done! Hope this helped!
