Today you need to go out looking for sheep, you need wool for a bed (or track down spiders) to sleep through the night. Then go to the village and make a cobblestone generator. Once you do those things make a furnace and build a home or take a villagers home. I mined up plenty of cobblestone and saved plenty for tools. If you need food, take the wheat at the village. When you make a cobblestone generator make a building around it because slimes can knock you in lava from behind.
