At first you will want to chop down some trees (with bare hand), the suitable amount of wood for starters should be 15-20 logs. Next you will want to make all of your logs into planks, which can be further made into: Sticks, crafting table, door. Make a crafting table by putting 4 pieces of wood in your crafting square, after that you will want to make sticks, to make these you will have to put a piece of wood with another piece of wood on top in the crafting GUI/table. After making sticks, you can make wooden tools, the tools I recommend making are as follows: Wooden Pickaxe, Wooden Axe, Wooden Sword. The next step is to get coal, once you have your Wooden Pickaxe, you will need to find the coal and then mine it to get coal. Next up is making torches, which are made by placing a stick with coal on top. Hope this helped.
