Hey guys, RMH here. Today I have a blog all about the weather system that is in Minecraft and all of the amazing things that could be added to the game to improve the weather. Before I start the blog, I would like to state that this is only my opinion, and if you have your own opinion, please post it in the comments. Let's get started!
WEATHER IN MINECRAFT
Well, I would like to point out first that the there is only 3 main types of weather in minecraft: Rain, Snow, and Thunderstorms. These 3 things add some realism to the game, but honestly not a lot. I mean, think about it. In the real world there is SO many things that could happen, like tsunamis, hurricanes, tornadoes, blizzards, dust storms, and so much more. Minecraft, only adding 3 things into the game, didn't really touch on the topic of weather much at all.
Weather that can be implemented
Even though there are so many weather occurrences that happen, only some could be implemented into minecraft, because if they all were, it would just be to much for a computer to handle. So here are some of the weather systems I would like added to the game. First on my list is the Tornado and Hurricane. Yes, this is two things, but there has already been a mod that implemented these into the game, so I don't see why Mojang couldn't do it. Second is the tsunami and waves. I think having waves and shorelines on a beach would be really realistic and cool to see. Have you ever walked up and seen a completely flat ocean and no waves at all? I didn't think so. Third, they could add blizzards. Yes, I know what you're thinking,"But Mojang already added snow, isn't that a blizzard?!?" You could think of the snow in the game right now as a sort of blizzard, but to be honest, blizzards are a lot much more powerful. I think that blizzards should be able to make multiple layers of snow, and it should be able to make it a very scary thing when it starts to snow. There are plenty of other types of things, like dust storms or wind, but some computers just cant handle that.
Conclusion
So, in the end, I think there could be a huge improvement on the minecraft weather system. I don't think Mojang put a lot of effort into the weather, although they did have other things to work on. I think that with the help of a couple of modders and mojang actually caring about the weather system, we could potentially see some cool things weather-wise coming up in Minecraft!
