I met the love of my life online when we were 11 in 2010 ;;;; her and i are still together today ♥ and have met irl many times ~ even more proof that great things can come from meeting people other than locals cx

I have a close friend I met playing Xbox when I was in my freshman year of highschool and we still talk today. I've since met him in person and met a ton of people through him the I periodically visit in person since they all live so close together. Just because you meet someone online doesn't make them any less of a friend. 

That being said, security is still important when you're meeting people, online or in the real world. You wouldn't walk up to someone in a coffee shop and then give them your address just after introducing yourself. Same principle.

To anyone who is getting confused and thinking that I'm saying to basically give out info or that you don't need to be protected, that's not what I'm saying. I'm saying that yes you should be careful on the Internet but maybe if you have Skype (I don't) you would talk to your friend from the Internet. If you really trust someone with your feelings, that's great. Just be safe but be able to make friends too.

My best friend is an Internet friend, actually. I am a very shy person irl and I open up better online, although I do not give out last names, addresses, time zones, and such. I would be absolutely stupid to, especially these days. ;)

Don't get me wrong, I've heard all the horror stories of evil people behind those screens- but as far as I figure, stay out of bad places, keep personal information absolutely private, and you'll be fine. I am guarded round my Internet friends and watch for signs of "off-ness", which thankfully has not happened, and if someone starts getting riled I leave the server. I've found it works quite well for me.

I have a lot of 'internet friends' that make me feel like we're really close and know eachother. Example was my friends EvanCorvus, zMilk_ & Kerobro. They were all friends I met online at mineplex and... they make me feel happy, safe in a way (IDEK how) and some how, like I know them irl. When I come home to go on minecraft, there is always 3-34 friends online with me and I get all excited and neverrrr EVERRRR nervous. ^-^ Be GRATEFUL! <33
