The title says the punch. Almost everyone here's MineCraft adventure started with the wooden pickaxe. I know mine did, I made a wooden pickaxe and went mining into the side of a mountain. At that time, I believed that coal and other natural recourses were something that came out sometimes when you mined cobblestone, and didn't know that they had their own texture. I mined for hours, learning. I even was convinced that you couldn't kill passive animals because of how many hits of your hand they endured. I believe this was in the dying days of Beta..... Back then, MineCraft servers were things I went on to piss people off, now they are things I do to make friends and give people my Death sword if they need it.

You might have a slightly different story, but who can truly say they jumped in and knew it all? Have you thought of the thousands that probably quit because they didn't see the full extent of the game? Ever think about all the noobs who are still learning? They are noobs to us because we know more. Back then, you probably believed that everyone was new. Maybe you didn't. I thought MineCraft was a game that knew no limits, I was only partially right.

Destruction? Always. Creepers were a problem at first. I was always experimenting with hallways and such to make it easier to spot a green giant from afar. Tnt was a mysterious, far-away obstacle that taunted me. I wanted to fight back. The creepers needed to die. When I finally reached tnt, I blew up my base shortly after. I had a break from MineCraft for a few days.

What pulled you in? Sincerely answer that to yourself. Ask yourself WHY you picked up the mouse, trackpad, controller, or phone to peer into MineCraft. Was it because of the immensive amounts of people playing? A friend reffered? An ad? Something else? I came because of a friend. I was quite the noob, thinking that people made the naturally-generated caves.

What keeps us here? The updates are always welcome, but what truly keeps Minecraft's playerbase so static? Is it building? Is it exploding other players' bases? Something else? Minecraft always seemed to be productive to me. There is a number to show off, or a base to brag about.

Everything starts with a pickaxe, nothing will start with diamond armor. Ever.
