Minecraft doesn't "easily eat up the fastest computers." I bought a $40 video card to replace the original in an old Dell Dimension 9200 and Minecraft ran 40 FPS on max settings with shaders. My $1500 gaming computer (with two EVGA GeForce GTX 560tis) can do it at 500 FPS with those settings. My 2010 VAIO E-Series Laptop can do 30 FPS with medium settings. It's really not that intensive.
