Hey, this is my first blog post... so let's hope it goes well!

Now, when I browse PMC every once and a while, I'll come across a new adventure map that might look interesting.. When I look at some of them I like to browse the comments to see what other people have thought, then try it out myself.. I have some feedback on things that people make, which might hopefully help!

1. Maps aren't a 30 minute process.

Take your time making your map! Rushed maps or maps that don't have a lot of time put into them end up looking bad and usally end up having a few errors along the way that you might have not noticed. Honestly do you think that map makers like Disco and Hypixel built their maps in one day?

2. Choice of materials.

People build their maps in creative, right? So you might think 'Oh goodie! Look at all these blocks like diamond and gold blocks! I never get to use them i'll use them here!' Now that might be slightly true building a house out of solid diamond blocks (or gold, iron, and emerald at that case) can be a little bit of an eyesore.. So just chill on the blocks, use a mixture and blocks that go well. (Such as wood and wool, Stone and stonebricks, ect.)

3. Have a storyline.

Have you ever played a map where there is no storyline at all and your like 'okay what now?' Having a storyline creates a basic structure for a map and adds that deatails that attracts people to the map. Make it have plot twists, a varity of challenges (parkour, redstone, puzzle are some few ex.), and mostly followable story. These all make the player... well.. not bored.

4. Cheating?

You don't want a map that makes the player have to cheat, so don't make troll traps where it always kills the player or they can't get out which makes them cheat. Don't make your puzzles so hard... MAKE CHECKPOINTS. Even a simple bed will do so we don't have to restart the map if we die. Next, I can not stress this enough RUN THROUGH YOUR OWN MAP!!! Run through it 2-3 times if necessary! I would also reccomend a friend testing it before you publish it on PMC or where ever.

5. Mess around with the terrain.

Flat land again? Boring.. Around your map add terraforming, an ocean, moutains, whatever! You can build it on a flat land, but I would encourage you to terraform it, either by hand (take along time) or take MCEdit for a spin! Having not a flat land proves that you spent time and effort on your map and it encourages the player. So also don't make your map totally inside, fresh air is good, even in a video game :P

6. Redstone is your friend!

It might be difficult for some people, but redstone IS your friend. Even simple machines help move the map along and keep it flowing! Using command blocks to do activities, like set time, teleport the player, ect. hits the player with a huge impression 'Oh wow! this map maker makes cool maps! I should check out some more!'

7. An original idea is key.

Your map can be inspired off of other people's builds/maps but copying it with a few tweaks isn't cool. And original idea in a map is just absolutely key since this builds your storyline (see 3) and you're not copying which is awesome!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now you see how these all wrap up together and make one good map? That's the idea!

Hope this helped! If it did leave a comment if you have an idea or what my next blog should be! Also leaving a diamond helps a ton and keeps us bloggers going.

Indeed, I agree with your post, howbeit please keep your blog posts civil and written in a coherent matter. It's an eye sore to read through a post with errors such as, 'plublish' and 'tht'. I recommend rereading your blog post before submitting it. 1+ I'd say.

Sometimes I know that i type to fast and get small, stupid little typing errors, but that is fixed. Also the style of writing that have... Well that's my style and it's hard to change. Thanks for your feedback.

I don't mind your style, Kinzroo, though keep in mind that a incoherent sentence can lead to ambiguity.
