I've been seeing more "cookie cutter" types of everything on PMC lately, and I closely relate this to something known as Meta-gaming. For the uninformed, Meta-gaming is where people tent to get a habit going, usually in video games, where one method of doing things is seen as "The right" and the other, "The wrong", Take blogs for example, most bloggers (well-known ones at least) have a specific format of the blogs they post in that everything is divided up into sections, carefully placed, with some photoshopped thumbnails and text, Sure it looks good, but that could be called stealing because so many people do it. Now what I'm NOT saying is that people see this as right or wrong, but they make these tutorials on blogging, skinning, building, servers, even forum posts, that all say specific things.

Blogs tutorials say that your blog should be divided into sub-topics that get their own sections and their own short descriptions, an example of what meta-gamers would call wrong is what you read now. I present my blogs in essay-format, as that's what I was taught growing up, Skin tutorials talk all about the "trending design" such as shading, blocky skins, simple skins, appropriating the noise tool, sure it looks good, but does that make it right, or your projected idea of right? Building tutorials detail just that, details. In a vector based game, detailing is easy, but simplistic builds can be just as good, do away with ye rounding, slants, and the likes of ye who wouldst be "modern" Go back to thine roots and buildeth in blocky style!

Finally, I just wish to say, that the next time you go and see the blogs, skins, and projects section, remember what I said and see how much of this there is. Thank you.
