What is that you see? If you guessed poor quality fireworks you are correct!
In the new 1.4.6 Minecraft release they added fireworks. Fireworks are really cool and can be fired from dispensers. But why do you need fireworks in Minecraft you ask? Well, they are great for looks, and cool signals for servers, although, when you get a mere 100 blocks away you reach the sight and sound berrier and you can't hear or see it at all, so that will be a bug until further notice, but the idea of fireworks is just astounding! Think about it!
Types/Heights/Colors
There are 5 different types of fireworks: Trail fireworks, twinkle fireworks, large ball fireworks, burst fireworks and star. Each with its own unique touch. Trail fireworks leave a trail in the sky and are made from diamond. Twinkle fireworks are made from glowstone; when they blow up a bunch of mini fireworks pop inside it, large ball fireworks are created with fireballs and are the biggest in size firework. Burst are made from feathers and are not in any significant shape but they scatter around. And star firework (made from gold nuggets) are in the form of a...well star of course! Now following the types of fireworks, theres also three different heights. Low, medium and high. Not to much to explain here. And, what is also really, really cool is that you can make the fireworks different colors! You can dye them to any color dye! So you can have a firework show right in front of your computer!
Recipes
To make a fire work you need the following materials: 1 Paper, 2-4 gunpowder, either will work, any of the types of fireworks shown above (diamond, feather, fireball, gold nugget or glowstone) and your favorite dye. Now, take the dye, 1 gunpowder, and your type of firework and put them all in the crafting table. You will get a ball called a "Firework Star" that will have your type and color. Now we need to add the height. Get the other gunpowder you have left (1-3) and the paper. Put the paper, gunpowder (1-3, 1 being the lowest, 2 being medium and 3 being the highest) and firework star in the crafting table and wahla! (However you spell that) You have your very own rocket firework! If you right click it on the ground it will fly into the heavens above, as well as putting them into dispensers and launching them.
