Since the release of Windows 8 Consumer Preview, people have tried to play Minecraft with this new os. Unfortunately, Windows 8 is still in development and therefore, does not come with all of the default display drivers.

Minecraft uses a 3D game library called OpenGL (Open Game Library). Therefore, when trying to launch Minecraft, you get an error and the infamous "Bad video card drivers" appears on the screen along with some technical specs about what went wrong and stuff like that. There have been people that have fixed this problem either by going to there video card manufacturers and downloading the latest drivers, or using the device manager to find a different or updated driver. Unfortunately, nothing has worked for me. As of now, I occasionally check for driver updates from device manager and am just waiting for a newer build of windows 8 to be released. I doubt that there will be a fix available to this in a future Minecraft update, as this is not an error or anything like that in the game. Therefore, just keep trying to update and wait.
