Everyone who has tried to play on a pvp server knows that there will ALWAYS be someone who is better than you (Unless you are literally the best pvper in the world, in that case do not read)

In this tutorial I will teach you some basic pvp tricks that should at least decimate the number of people who are better than you. This toturial is based on pvp experience from the overcast network (us.oc.tc).

The basics

1. Accept defeat
- This tutorial will not make you equal to a professional killing machine, it will only make you better at pvp so you will die and you have to accept it. Yes even if you are being "attacked by 10 noobs at the same time"

2. Know what's going on around you - It's always important to know who is your enemy and who is not. In most pvp games teams will have different colored armor or name tags. Always know what team you're on and be suspicious, anything moving can be an enemy.

3. Run if you can't make it - Some say running is for wimps, but it can literally save your life. It is important that you run if you know you can't make it. Example: You have half a heart have only gotten 3 hits on the enemy. Another important factor is that you always keep track of how many hits the enemy has made and how many you have made. If you're good enough to get the first hits you will be able to take him out (if you both have equal gear)

4. Use criticals! - Using criticals is one of the most important things in pvp. Most people run up to the enemy and start spamming their left mouse button. Don't do this, use criticals. To get a critical hit, jump in the air and hit your enemy while falling down. If you succeed you will get the white sparks coming out of the opponent.

5. Be tactical - In team based matches, stay with your team, this way you can take out way more enemies than alone. If you are alone, there are different tactics: Try to limit block hitting, unless you are very good at this you should not use/try it. It slows you down and breaks your sprint, which you need when coming at your enemy to get some good knockback on him. Another tactic is to strafe, use your a nd d keys and run around your enemy to make it harder for him to hit you.

6. In close battles: bow < sword - Never bow spam, bow spamming does not help you at all if the enemy is within 3 blocks (Unless you have some punch on that bow, in that case, shoot and run). Most players will be able to dodge your arrows with ease and attack you, by the time you pull out your sword, you're dead.

7. Play to win - Although this sounds pretty try hard, it works. If you play for fun, you will most likely not care about how often you get killed or how many points the enemy makes, no matter what pvp game. If you focus on the game and try not to die, you can get that KD up in no time and most likely win the game.

Advanced Stuff

If you play on a server where everyone has mastered the basics, you may be in trouble. So here are a few extra tips that should help you to even overcome those who pvp a lot.

1. Bow aiming - Most people do this completely wrong, your bow doesn't shoot where you point it at. If a player is runnin sideways, and you're trying to shoot him, always point the bow 3-5 blocks in direction where you think he will be. If the player is running all over the place trying to dodge the arrows, he usually has some kind of rythm, find out what it is, this should help you to get the correct aim. Another important factor is distance: the farther away, the higher you aim; if you practice this a little you will get the hang of it in no time. One more tip for bows: Jumping and shooting in mid air increases your range and makes it easier to shoot over obstacles.

2. Aim in general - I've seen this a lot, people tend to run at a person, sword swinging, get a few hits on him and boom their mouse goes wild all over the place. To prevent this from happening to you know your mouse sensitivity and how much you have to move it to do 90 degree turns.

3. Be good at parkour - Taking shortcuts can be life saving if you're being chased by someone, if it's up a steep hill or over roof tops, it's good that you know when to jump and what distances you can reach with that jump. When going up a hill, try to go in a zig-zag (is that how you say it?) formation so you always sprint. When going over obstacles, try not to jump too early, or too late; a good time to jump is when you're 3-2 blocks away from a block. In addition to this, keep your pinky on the sprint key. If an obstacle breaks your sprint, you will instantly start sprinting again. To help you do this, imagine the sprint key would only work while pressing it down.

That's all I can think of right now. Did I miss anything? Post it in the comments below and I will be sure to add it to the list! I hope this helped you and if it did, don't forget to give a diamond :D

Sometimes also you can see people looking at each other then at somthing else at the same time. Just a way to know who is probably teaming with who.
