This just started happening to me after years of no issues. The latest launcher, which updated itself, must be the problem, since I had no issues with the previous launcher.
That having been said, in launch options, the resolution was already deselected and it still crashes every time I try to play.
I've had Minecraft installed on my MacBook for 6 years and I've never had this problem before and from what I've read this is not caused by one issue.
