Today I write this blog because I think there should be guards in the game. The reason I bring this up I think is very logical. First of all when you first start playing Minecraft what did you build? If like many other people you built a little fort out of cobblestone or maybe something to get away from the mobs. Than the reason guards should be in the game is already obvious. There needs to be guards in the game to defend you, defend towns, defend your forts and many more things. I mean look we already have guard towers automatically generated in the game itself for the villages. When you finally build your masterpiece in Minecraft you always build a wall to protect you from the outside. That's so when creepers, spiders and other mobs start coming in your some what defended. What will you do when your perimeter is breached you need a second plan and that plan is to have guards.

Hopefully I've convinced you as of now how guards would help in the game and might even be completely needed for some of us less able to fight off mass amounts of enemies. However how would they work into the game. The way I see it, that doesn't really matter because the possibilities for guards in the game are endless. Guards could be found just wondering and you could pay them in gold or weaponry. There could be different types of level guards that are stronger or more equipped than others. You could have guards that you assign to defend towns or go on patrols. Guards that can follow you on your adventures to protect you that can share weaponry with you. It's really almost endless to what you can do with this.

To give you some ideas of maybe how this would work in the game I made this. Now of course you wouldn't just have these 4 types of guards you can have 10 or maybe even make your own guard from scratch that has its own purpose for you.

White Knight Guards - Normal weaponry of 1 stone sword and chainmail, patrol only, found in towns.

Black Knight Guard - 1 iron sword, 1 bow, chainmail, higher health, patrol only, found in towns.

Mercenary - 1 diamond sword, 1 bow, very high health, multiple rolls, found wondering Minecraft and are very rare.

Soldier - 1 diamond sword, 1 bow, diamond armor, can share weaponry with player, found near villagers, can be assigned jobs.

To have guards in the game doesn't just provide one thing like many other things in Minecraft it can provide many things. Those guards can go and hunt zombies or they can bring the zombies meat back and put it in a chest. Just let your imagination wonder and think of what a guard can do in the game. You could possibly even go into the nether and storm the nether forts and take them over in a large battle. You can see there's a lot that can be done with this idea and I'm only on the tip of the iceberg.

My last part of this is how would this idea improve upon Minecraft. Well this idea obviously only applies to survival but you could use it for creative for a design feature. Such as having guards standing by this huge door protecting the inner city into your castle, would look very stylish. The reason this would improve upon Minecraft is first to protect villagers, pet wolves and yourself. Second to defend and prevent your structures from being blown up while you stand next to them. Third they could provide extra protection or mobile space to put your items when your traveling. Fourth the guards can share weaponry with you in case of deadly situations. Possibly including many more.

That's it for now everybody I hoped you enjoyed and thanks for reading.

Guards in minecraft = Iron golems

And anyways, this is a sandbox survival game, not "defend your fortress and fight the enemies with guns" you have to choose by yourself if you want to defend the village. I dont, i just make a wall around the village. And it isnt any guard towers in minecraft.

Very good idea, but, other than the style part which is a very valid and good point, the solution to being attacked by endless streams of mobs is simple; Click escape, go to options, and click the button that says difficulty level until it says, "peaceful" ;P
