Phantoms are okay in my opinion, for some reason people seem to be scared of voting for another hostile mob for the mob vote because of these little sky terrors. I personally don’t understand this because phantoms are fine, If you want to avoid them you can just sleep or kill them they aren’t that hard to obliterate. Sure some would argue their hard to shoot but their not, when they get ready to attack they spiral in the air super slowly and it’s really easy to shoot them. Their attacks are boring too, I like the idea of a mob that dive bombs you but these things are so slow it’s annoying, some would argue their attack’s effects and the numbers they spawn in make up for their slowness, but it doesn’t. Phantoms deal about as much damage as a zombie as well as about a few blocks of pushback, I would have loved to see phantoms live up to their full potential, but mojang decided to greatly underestimate how good players are at pve. Ok fine at this point I’m just ranting but I have reasons why their good to, reason one is their ai because it’s so bad it’s good, it’s just funny and I don’t really have anything to say about it but I do have some things to say about what they could have been. All that phantoms need to be a mob worth fearing is better ai, speed, and damage. First for the ai, sure you could say it’s hard to make a flying ai and that’s fair but phantom path finding is horrible, and their slow! Ye I want to talk about speed. Phantoms are very slow I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again they are slow, if they were faster and their dive bomb wasn’t so easy to dodge then maybe they would be a force to be reckoned with but you can step one pixel a year and dodge a phantom’s dive bomb, also their damage is puny, it’s sad, I’ve died more to zombies then to phantoms (the count is zombie deaths: 32 phantom deaths: 0) ok I’ll stop now, thanks for reading about me ranting :3
