In this idea:
1. Templates are reusable
2. Templates can break and need to be repaired instead of duplicating them
3. You choose what item to add to the template (gold, diamond, etc.) to match your armor.
4. The item you add to the template is used instead of the whole template.
Diamonds are currently used to duplicate templates that apply to all armor types, which makes no structural sense. This idea makes adding trim to cheaper armor cheaper so players can experiment and makes netherite trim a bit more expensive. Applying diamond trim is essentially the same in cost (+1 diamond).
This same method can also be applied to the upgrade template used to upgrade the diamond armor to netherite armor. (but of course, the upgrade template would only be refillable with diamonds).
What are your thoughts on this system?
