It seems to me, ever since Minecraft 1.8 came out, Mojang has been doing unnessesary actions. For our first conversation, we will be talking about Bukkit being shutdown. I hope you follow along with this news!
-BUKKIT-
As few of you know, a developer at CraftBukkit attempted to shutdown the development of Bukkit, only to learn he didn’t have the rights to own the project, and we all thought it was was fine after that. Turns out, it's not. The balance of this situation is more than unsettled.
Let's learn what Bukkit even is. It's a largly used mod used in Minecraft Servers, allowing the permitted players to use it's nifty features. The features of Bukkit consist of a list of commands that are used to have greater control of the server.
After about a year, Mojang started aquiring Bukkit, and in doing so, hired some of Bukkits developers. And from here on, the situation became a mess. It's been stated that Mojang and CraftBukkit came to a disagreement with the new Eula. Wesley “wolvereness” Wolfe, one of the Bukkit admins, filed a DMCA claim, resulting in the mod being taken down.
Games.On.Net states "The DMCA claim states that CraftBukkit uses code of Wolfe’s and because of Mojang’s intention to not permit “the inclusion of any of its proprietary Minecraft software … within the Bukkit project to be included in or made subject to any GPL or LGPL licence”, the mod is in violation of its own original GPL/LGPL licence."
