It is quality rather than quantity that matters.

Lucius Annaeus Seneca

After reading that quote above you may be wondering what I am talking about. Well over these past few months I have seen so many servers ran by people that were setup in the matter of one day and I wonder why whoever made the server would make a server and expect people to stay if they don't have a nice server. Now what I mean is there are too many servers that are poorly setup and all have the same thing so there are too many servers without quality in the minecraft community.

Now this goes out to the community. There needs to be change because if you want to open a server you have to put work into it for one, LOTS OF WORK! Also you need to have an idea of what you are setting up and a goal. So here are some tips and tricks to make a quality server instead of a server that no one truly enjoys because it is just poorly setup.

The Idea: When you are setting up a server you have to bear in mind the fact that people enjoy servers that are "different". Now what I mean by this is that they are looking for a server that has something that sets it from all the generic servers. I have seen some fantastic servers have amazing ideas and they get plenty of people! My example here would be Rise Of Kings since they are a custom RP server who had a good idea and incorporated it into a quality server.

The Community: When setting up a server you also have to take in the fact that the community makes everything come alive! I mean seriously I tend to stay on servers for the community since they often make it an enjoyable experience and I hate servers that have players swearing and bullying left and right. Another reason the community makes the server so much more fun and interesting is because they tend to make you have a fun and interesting time and setup things on the server that are just amazing. An example for this would be A'Therys Ascended because I myself have been with them for almost a year now and the community just makes the server so much fun since they have a large variety of ecstatic players.

The Staff: When you setup a server you are going to need Staff. Now you may be thinking to yourself, "Well duhh every server needs staff." Now my definitiion of staff seems to be different from most server owners definition of staff these days. My definition of staff is A group of dedicated members who worked hard towards the community and are mature/respectful of the players. These players also don't abuse their powers and often provide a wonderful experience for players and remove players who disobey the rules. Also when setting up a server please don't go on the Planetminecraft forums and say "IN NEED OF ADMIN!!" to me this just looks like you are someone who is not setting up a professional server instead you are looking for someone who has no experience at all. My example for this would be Planetminecraft staff such as Paril since he is an excellent staff member when it has come to making Planetminecraft a better community.

Note: I will be updating this blog throughout time and please provide any suggestions if you think I should add something.
